Evosys and Schaeffler join forces on the US medtech market

Evosys and Schaeffler join…

The US subsidiary of Evosys Laser and Schaeffler Special Machinery, the Schaeffler Group's special-purpose machine manufacturer, have formed a joint sales team dedicated to serving customers in the eastern United States. The cooperation focuses on turnkey, highly automated production solutions for the medical technology sector, with particular emphasis on laser welding processes for plastic components. The objective is to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance are maintained even as production volumes increase.

The combination of Evosys MedTech expertise in laser welding processes with Schaeffler Special Machinery experience in the design and implementation of special-purpose machines is intended to enable medical device manufacturers to use scalable, quality-assured manufacturing solutions. The new sales structure is designed to simplify contact with the technology supplier, shorten decision paths and facilitate planning of investments in production lines.

Joint sales team for the eastern US

The new sales team on the US market is led by Denis Wittmaier, managing director of Evosys North America Corp. He is responsible for coordinating projects in the eastern United States, combining local market knowledge with technical expertise in laser plastic welding and an on-site presence.

The scope of support covers the entire project cycle, from initial feasibility analysis and process design through to commissioning and production support. For customers, this means shorter communication channels, faster response times and a higher level of schedule predictability. Denis Wittmaier highlights the importance of process stability and meeting delivery deadlines: "Our shared goal is to deliver projects reliably, on time, and with maximum process stability."

Process safety and quality in medical device manufacturing

The new sales partnership was presented at the MD&M Anaheim (MD&M West) trade show in the United States. During meetings with engineers, quality managers and production teams, it was emphasized that scaling up production in the medical sector must not come at the expense of quality and regulatory compliance.

Discussions focused on practical concepts for making production lines safer, smarter and more efficient. These included both the use of laser plastic welding technology and the integration of this technology with fully automated assembly and testing systems. The use of modular, flexibly configurable process modules is intended to make it possible to adapt installations to changing requirements and to gradually increase capacity without losing repeatability of process parameters.

From laser welding to automated lines

Thanks to the combined offering of Evosys and Schaeffler Special Machinery, medtech manufacturers in the eastern United States now have a single point of contact for a broad range of manufacturing solutions. This includes high-precision laser welding processes for plastic components, flexibly configurable process modules and fully automated assembly and testing systems.

Laser plastic welding used in medical devices requires strict control of process parameters such as laser power, travel speed and clamping force, as well as appropriate selection of materials and joint geometries. Integrating this technology with assembly automation and quality control systems is crucial to ensuring process stability and the ability to validate the process in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.

The offering for medical device manufacturers covers both solutions for implementing new product designs and the upgrading of existing lines by integrating laser welding modules and additional inspection functions. Particular emphasis is placed on the scalability of installations so that it is possible to move from pilot series to high-volume production while maintaining the same validated process parameters.
