Ecovadis gold for Envalior in first assessment

Ecovadis gold for Envalior…

Envalior has completed its first EcoVadis sustainability assessment with a Gold Medal rating. EcoVadis is a widely used platform that evaluates sustainability management performance across global supply chains, covering more than 150,000 companies in over 185 countries and across more than 250 industries. Medals are awarded based on percentile performance, with Gold granted to companies scoring in the top 5 percent of those assessed over the preceding 12 months. According to the company, achieving Gold on a first submission is uncommon due to the breadth and depth of the evaluation criteria. In addition to the medal, Envalior reports that its score placed it in the top 3 percent of companies assessed within its sector. The result comes shortly after the publication of Envalior’s first sustainability report and the launch of the Envalior CARES strategy, an organization‑wide framework intended to guide transparency, accountability and continuous improvement across environmental and social priorities.

Scope and result of the EcoVadis assessment

The EcoVadis methodology reviews documented policies, actions and performance across up to 21 sustainability criteria grouped into four themes, Environment, Labor and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. The overall rating reflects a company’s consolidated performance across these themes. Envalior’s best results were recorded in Environment and in Labor and Human Rights. The company notes that earning a Gold Medal on its first attempt is unusual, given the scope of documentation and evidence required by EcoVadis.

Company comment and next steps

Commenting on the outcome, Günter Margraf, Director of Sustainability at Envalior, said, "Third‑party sustainability assessments such as EcoVadis are an excellent way to provide greater clarity to our customers and value‑chain stakeholders on our sustainability management performance. We are extremely happy with the result and look forward to implementing further improvements as we execute on our Envalior CARES strategy." The Envalior CARES framework focuses on key environmental and social areas and is structured around three pillars, low carbon, sustainable resources and social responsibility.

Implications for customers and supply chains

Envalior states that its EcoVadis score provides additional transparency on its sustainability management approach and reporting. The company positions the independent evaluation as relevant for customers operating under increasingly complex regulatory requirements and heightened supplier scrutiny, indicating that the rating can support risk reduction across supply chains and contribute to broader sustainability objectives.
