At this year’s FIP, France Innovation Plasturgie, taking place in Lyon from 2 to 5 June, Dr. Boy GmbH & Co. KG, together with its French representative Béwéplast, will present injection moulding solutions whose common denominator is performance and the aspect of sustainable production. The centrepiece of the stand will be two Boy injection moulding machines intended for different applications. The first, the Boy 35 E, will be used to produce espresso cups, while the Boy XS will be shown in a liquid silicone micro-parts application. The presentations are intended to show how energy-efficient machine technology, appropriately selected materials and processing solutions can be combined into a coherent production process. The company also highlights the compact design of its machines, which is important where space savings matter while maintaining precision and process stability.
On the Boy 35 E, equipped with the energy-efficient EconPlast unit and a 32 mm screw, espresso cups with a shot weight of 52 g and a cycle time of 45 seconds will be produced. An important part of this presentation is the material used, the cups are made from NAS ECO 30 BC70 from INEOS Styrolution, described by the manufacturer as high-quality and sustainable. The material is coloured white with a laser-compatible colorant from AF Color, enabling precise and durable marking. The cups will be laser marked directly at the exhibition stand. According to Boy, this application shows that combining energy-efficient machine technology, materials with appropriately selected properties and modern processing solutions can create a coherent production concept.
The second presentation will cover LSR micro-parts
In addition, the Boy XS injection moulding machine will be displayed in cooperation with the University of Kassel. Crown caps made of LSR will be produced on Boy’s smallest injection moulding machine. In this application, a distinctive feature is the colour change of the closures under the influence of temperature. This solution makes it easy to identify chilled drinks. With a clamping force of 100 kN and a footprint of 0.87 m², the Boy XS E is designed for a wide range of applications in sprueless injection moulding of micro-mouldings and small parts. The free-standing two-platen clamping unit with a diagonal arrangement of the tie bars provides easy access to the plasticising unit, mould cavity and ejector, which facilitates the integration of automation equipment.
Visitors will be able to see the presented solutions at the stand of Boy and Béwéplast in Hall 5.1, Stand N06.
