Siemens will consolidate its automation business units into a single Automation organization on October 1, 2026. Rainer Brehm has been appointed President of the new unit and will report to Cedrik Neike, CEO Digital Industries.

Siemens is strengthening its automation business to help industrial customers build more flexible, productive and resilient production systems. As part of its ONE Tech Company strategy, the company will bring together its four automation business units into a single organization effective October 1, 2026. Customer Services, Factory Automation, Motion Control and Process Automation will be consolidated into one unified organization, Automation. The Managing Board of Siemens AG has appointed Rainer Brehm as President of Automation. He will assume the role on October 1, 2026, reporting directly to Cedrik Neike, Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG and CEO Digital Industries. The new organization is intended to bring together key automation capabilities and further advance Siemens’ ONE Tech Company strategy.

New structure for automation activities

The consolidation will combine Siemens’ automation-related activities that currently operate across Customer Services, Factory Automation, Motion Control and Process Automation. According to the company, the change is linked to the role of automation in developing production systems that can respond to industrial requirements for flexibility, productivity and resilience.

Role of Rainer Brehm

Rainer Brehm currently serves as Digital Industries COO for automation business and CTO. In this role, he has been driving the strategic development of Siemens’ automation portfolio, including technologies such as software-defined automation and Industrial AI. Before taking on his current responsibilities, he served as CEO of the Factory Automation business unit.
