At K 2025, Steinert will present sensor-based and AI-supported systems designed to sort challenging plastic streams such as black packaging, thin films and contaminated food containers. According to the company, modern sensor technology combined with artificial intelligence enables sorting accuracies above 98 percent on these difficult fractions. Visitors will find Steinert in hall 9, stand E22, where experts will discuss individual sorting tasks and process requirements. In addition to demonstrations at the booth, the program extends beyond the exhibition grounds, with opportunities to observe the equipment in operation at a test environment near Cologne and at an industrial-scale sorting plant in Bochum. The agenda also includes technical presentations within the VDMA forum The Power of Plastics, addressing the efficient separation of plastics to produce high-quality recyclates and the role of big data analytics in improving the performance and efficiency of recycling plants. The focus areas mirror current market needs in plastics recycling, including the identification of dark or thin items and the separation of food-grade packaging from mixed material streams, as well as precise flake processing.

Live demonstrations and tours
On three trade fair days, 9, 13 and 14 October, shuttles will take visitors directly from the exhibition grounds to the Steinert Test & Development Center near Cologne. During tours lasting just under four hours, experts will demonstrate the AI-supported sorting program Intelligent Object.Identifier (IOI), which Unisort PR Evo 5.0 uses to separate food-grade packaging from other plastic packaging. The visit also includes precise flake sorting down to 0.5 mm with MSort AK. Participants will have the opportunity to talk directly to their contact persons about specific projects and technical details. Registration: Steinert website.

On K-Friday, 10 October, a joint tour with the VDMA will take visitors to the sorting plant of Remondis subsidiary RE Plano in Bochum, one of the most modern plants for lightweight plastic packaging in Europe. Here, sensor and magnetic technology from Steinert is used on an industrial scale to sort pre-sorted packaging materials into recyclable plastics. Registration: VDMA website. All tours include shuttle service from the exhibition grounds.
Technical presentations in the VDMA forum
As part of the VDMA forum The Power of Plastics on 10 October, Nicolas Deleris, segment manager plastics, will explain how state-of-the-art sensor technology can be used to efficiently separate plastics and obtain high-quality recyclates. On 11 October, Björn Lövenich, head of sales waste recycling division, Steinert GmbH EMEA, India, Asia, will show how big data analytics can increase the performance and efficiency of recycling plants.
