Polycarbonate solid sheets: Exolon, not Makrolon

Polycarbonate solid sheets:…

Exolon Group begins brand change in the polycarbonate solid sheet sector.

The next phase of Exolon Group's major brand change has begun. From July 2021, our polycarbonate solid sheets will also be produced and sold under the new brand name "Exolon made of Makrolon".

Exolon Group is a long-standing manufacturer and marketer of Makrolon sheet material and has made the brand synonymous throughout Europe with first-class, high-tech quality polycarbonate solid sheets. This development will now continue seamlessly under the new name Exolon and be carried on into the future with further innovations. "The name will change, but all product features and our first-class service will remain excellent, as usual," stresses Jens Becker, CEO of Exolon Group.

New name for familiar excellent service and safety

The familiar product nomenclature is also essentially retained. For example, the "Makrolon UV" solid sheet range will become "Exolon UV". The new brand logo, which features clear lines and a modern design, will in future be applied to the protective film and product documentation and augmented with the tagline "made of Makrolon".

The Exolon brand may be evolving, but all contacts within Exolon Group remain the same and are happy to answer any questions about the products. In short: the name may have changed - but the product, the people and service remain the same.

Wide range of applications in industry

The Exolon brand stands for a versatile range of first-class polycarbonate solid sheets, which meet a wide range of requirements in industry, mechanical engineering, the construction industry and in the field of visual communication. The extremely impact-resistant material is highly regarded as a safe solution for protective screens and machine covers. Exolon solid sheets facilitate creative construction projects such as stadium and train station canopies, complex dome  or roof-light structures. The highly transparent polycarbonate sheets have a high optical quality and are therefore also used in the automotive sector. The material is easy to process and can be hot or cold formed.

The Exolon range of products retains its diversity and all production processes as well as safety regulations (fire classifications, CE, machine guards, etc.) remain classified and certified according to the required regulations. Thanks to Exolon Group's extrusion expertise, its comprehensive quality management and production processes certified according to DIN ISO 9001, consistent high quality is guaranteed.

Exolon made of Makrolon

The tagline "Made of Makrolon" applies to all Exolon solid sheets. The reason: The Makrolon brand is a registered trademark owned by the Covestro Group and will continue to be used for the polycarbonate raw material. This continues to be processed during the production of Exolon sheet material. This means the processing and surface quality will remain the same and the material properties will be identical. For this reason, old Makrolon solid sheets from stock and new Exolon sheets can be used together.
