Omron integrated Microscan Systems solutions into its product line

Omron integrated Microscan… Acquisition of Microscan Systems Adds 35+ Years of Barcode Reading, Machine Vision and Verification Expertise into Omron’s Innovative Industrial Automation Solutions to Ensure Quality, Productivity and Consumer Safety.

Omron Industrial Automation Europe announced that the automatic identification, machine vision and verification solutions from Microscan Systems are now integrated into its complete quality control and inspection product line, following the completion of the acquisition on 2 October 2017.

Quality manufacturing and full product traceability are key factors in ensuring product quality, consumer safety and guaranteeing compliance with industry regulations, whilst maximising productivity. A complete traceability and inspection solution allows manufacturers to follow products through the manufacturing process, record each production step to optimize quality and ensure that any errors are detected early. In addition, individual products and components can be tracked throughout the supply chain, from the factory to the end user.

Thanks to the acquisition of Microscan Systems, Omron offers a strong solution for code reading in its key manufacturing markets to further advance the control of manufacturing equipment and production lines, using the IoT to connect virtually all objects on a manufacturing floor, including components and machines. This will bring flexible automation to manufacturing floors to meet a diversity of consumer requirements.

"Combining Microscan's 35+ years of experience in barcode readers, smart cameras and verifiers with Omron's expertise in industrial automation is very exciting," said Nico Hooiveld, Market Manager at Omron Europe. "We are now able to offer a one-stop-solution to companies looking to integrate traceability and inspection solutions into their manufacturing line, including best-in-class controllers with built-in SQL, which can communicate directly with the barcode readers and a central database."
