Labelexpo Europe 2025 will open at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona from 16 to 19 September, presenting its largest edition to date and a broadened scope that spans labels, folding cartons and flexible packaging. The organizer, Labelexpo Global Series, confirms an expanded education and community program built around regulatory readiness, technology convergence and skills development. A new feature, the Pulse Arena, will serve as a complimentary hub for technical sessions and networking focused on sustainability with an emphasis on PPWR, diversification opportunities for label converters into flexible packaging and folding cartons, and the future of AI and automation in the package printing industry. The Label Academy will run a master class on folding cartons for label converters, and a dedicated RFID Technology Master Class covering all stages of manufacturing RFID labels, testing and encoding, aimed at helping converters understand how to enter this market. The show reports that over 25 percent of existing exhibitors have portfolios spanning labels, flexible packaging and folding cartons, highlighting the convergence of technologies now reflected on the show floor and in the education program.
Education and technology program
The Pulse Arena is designed as the epicenter for current industry topics, including PPWR compliance pathways, diversification strategies beyond labels, and practical applications of AI and automation in package printing operations. Sessions will also explore how RFID can support mandates such as PPWR and the Digital Product Passport, enable product tracking across global supply chains and open new channels for consumer engagement. The Label Academy curriculum complements this with targeted master classes that provide step by step guidance, tooling and process considerations, and performance verification methods.
Andy Thomas-Emans, strategic director of Labelexpo Global Series, said: "As our industry embraces the convergence of technologies across labels, flexible packaging and folding cartons, and brands develop new needs for smart and sustainable packaging technology, education becomes the critical bridge to success. The Pulse Arena and our specialized Master Classes equip professionals with the knowledge to navigate PPWR compliance, diversification opportunities, and emerging AI applications, ensuring they are prepared for tomorrow's challenges today."
