Golden Compound has expanded its colour solutions for biodegradable plastics with a new series of pastel masterbatches for injection moulding. The portfolio comprises six shades, including baby blue, lavender purple, lemon yellow, pastel green, salmon pink and vibrant orange. All masterbatches are based on Bio-PBS and are Ok compost home certified and food approved. The recommended addition level is up to 2%, which gives processors scope to adjust colour intensity while maintaining certification and material performance parameters. The new colours are positioned for use with the company’s GC green materials, in particular the established GC green 71 MI T30 grade, and target consumer goods and packaging where a modern, soft visual appearance is required.
According to the company, pairing the pastel masterbatches with GC green 71 MI T30 supports both design and processing objectives. In injection moulding, the material combination enables up to 30% faster cycle times compared with conventional PP, which can increase output and reduce unit costs. Finished parts are also described as dishwasher safe, addressing durability requirements for reusable items. Typical applications cited include lunch boxes, tableware and sustainable packaging concepts where consistent colouration, food contact suitability and end-of-life compatibility are relevant selection criteria.
Processing and performance
The masterbatches are formulated on a Bio-PBS carrier, aligning the colourant system with biodegradable polymer matrices. The Ok compost home certification applies to the masterbatch, supporting use in designs aimed at home-compostable end-of-life scenarios. A let-down ratio of up to 2% allows colour tuning in production without excessive dosing, which can be critical for maintaining mechanical properties and certification boundaries. In combination with GC green 71 MI T30, processors can leverage reduced moulding cycle times by up to 30% compared to PP, supporting efficiency gains in series production. Dishwasher safety provides an additional performance attribute for long-life consumer products exposed to repeated washing cycles.

Vibrant Orange brings energy and dynamism into play. This colour is perfect for products that need to stand out.
Colour portfolio and target use cases
The palette is designed to deliver a contemporary pastel look across common consumer formats. The six shades are described as follows:
- Baby blue, fresh as a clear summer sky.
- Lavender purple, elegant and gentle at the same time.
- Lemon yellow, sunny, optimistic and full of energy.
- Pastel green, a symbol of nature and sustainability.
- Salmon pink, playful and friendly.
- Vibrant orange, dynamic and eye-catching.
The colour set is intended for reusable articles such as lunch boxes and tableware, as well as sustainable packaging where a soft, summery aesthetic is preferred and food approval is required.
With the addition of pastel Bio-PBS masterbatches to its range, Golden Compound focuses on combining certified raw materials with practical processing benefits and consumer-facing aesthetics. The solution set targets moulders seeking to align visual design, productivity and end-of-life considerations in biodegradable product lines.
