Dr. Boy GmbH & Co. KG, together with its Italian distribution partner ST.A.TE Technologies, evaluates its participation in the Mecspe 2026 trade fair in Bologna as successful. During the event, held from 4 to 6 March, the Boy 80 Electric electromechanical injection moulding machine was presented at booth E17 in hall 36. The exhibit attracted significant attention from plastics processing professionals, in particular from the medical products segment, who are interested in energy-efficient and precise solutions for injection moulding.
Presentation of the Boy 80 Electric at Mecspe 2026
The central element of the company's presence at the fair was the Boy 80 Electric injection moulding machine, which operated in live production mode. During the demonstrations, injection moulding of blood filters intended for the medical technology sector was carried out. This application was selected to highlight the processing capabilities of the machine under demanding medical production conditions, where repeatability, process stability and cleanliness of the production environment are of key importance.
During the presentation, several important features of the Boy 80 Electric were emphasised. These include optimisation of cycle time through parallel motion, a highly dynamic injection process and precisely controlled motion sequences of the clamping and injection units. High repeatability of process parameters was also underlined, which is crucial in serial production of components requiring tight dimensional and functional tolerances.
Energy-efficient drive and parallel movements
A key part of the presentation concerned the drive concept and the organisation of machine movements. The Boy 80 Electric uses an energy-efficient drive concept designed to reduce electricity consumption while maintaining high dynamic performance. In combination with the possibility of parallel movements, such as simultaneous movements of the clamping unit and other auxiliary functions, this has a direct impact on cycle time reduction and production efficiency.
Additional attention was drawn to the use of an electric ejector. This solution, combined with the electromechanical main drive, supports stable, clean production under demanding conditions, such as manufacturing of medical components. The configuration presented responds to the growing user requirements regarding energy efficiency, automation and control of the injection process.
Interest of the Italian market in electromechanical solutions
According to representatives of ST.A.TE Technologies, the response of visitors to the presented solution was very positive. Francesco Valsecchi of ST.A.TE Technologies summarised the trade fair participation as follows: "Mecspe was a very successful trade fair for us. The Boy 80 Electric attracted a great deal of interest. Overall, many company representatives visited our booth and we were able to draw up a significant number of quotations. Many of the visitors came from central and southern regions of Italy."
The positive reception of the injection moulding machine confirms the growing interest of Italian plastics processors in electromechanical injection moulding solutions, in which process stability and reduction of energy consumption play an important role. This segment is gaining importance in the context of manufacturing plants striving to increase efficiency, reduce operating costs and meet environmental requirements.
Cooperation prospects on the Italian market
Dr. Boy and ST.A.TE Technologies regard the results of Mecspe 2026 as a solid basis for further development of cooperation with existing customers and for initiating new projects in Italy. The number of quotations generated during the event and the profile of visitors, which included in particular companies from the central and southern parts of the country, indicate potential for further growth of energy-efficient electromechanical injection moulding machine applications in the plastics processing industry.
The participation in the trade fair confirmed that the solutions showcased using the Boy 80 Electric injection moulding machine meet current customer needs, especially those of manufacturers of components for medical technology. They require predictable, easily validated injection processes while at the same time reducing the energy footprint of production installations. For both partners, the Mecspe 2026 fair thus represented a starting point for further commercial and technical activities on the Italian market.
