Boy 35 Electric debuts at Swiss Plastics Expo in Lucerne

Boy 35 Electric debuts at…

Boy Switzerland will showcase the new Boy 35 Electric at the Swiss Plastics Expo in Lucerne, marking the first trade fair appearance of the newly established subsidiary Boy Schweiz GmbH. From 20 to 22 January 2026, the company will present modern, compact injection moulding technology at its booth in Hall 2, Stand A 2005, with live demonstrations of electric and micro injection moulding machines. The foundation of Boy Schweiz GmbH opens a new chapter for the brand in the Swiss market, combining close customer support and long-standing technical expertise with an explicit focus on service and sustainability in plastics processing.

Alongside the Boy XS E, designed specifically for micro injection moulding applications, the exhibition will centre on Boy's smallest all-electric machine to date, the Boy 35 Electric. This model will be demonstrated in operation on the stand, giving visitors the opportunity to assess cycle behaviour, precision and compactness under production-like conditions. According to the company description, the machine is aimed at users seeking precise, sustainable and economical plastics processing on a minimal footprint, in line with current requirements for energy-efficient and space-saving production cells.

Boy 35 Electric: compact electric machine for precise applications

The Boy 35 Electric is an electric injection moulding machine with a clamping force of 350 kN and is positioned as the smallest all-electric model in the Boy portfolio. The machine is designed for precise injection and high dynamics, with reduced cycle times enabled by parallel movements of the main axes. Within its clamping force range, it is described as having the smallest footprint in its class, which is intended to facilitate integration into existing production environments with limited floor space. The concept targets processors who require high repeatability and process stability while optimising energy consumption and overall cell layout.

A new universal injection unit is a central technical feature of the Boy 35 Electric. It incorporates a patented back pressure measurement system and is available with screw diameters from 12 mm to 32 mm. This solution is intended to provide high process accuracy across a broad spectrum of shot volumes and material types. The ability to monitor and control back pressure directly in the injection unit supports stable melt preparation and dosing, which is particularly relevant for demanding technical parts or applications with narrow processing windows.

Two-plate clamping unit and clean mould area

The clamping side of the Boy 35 Electric is based on a two-plate clamping unit. This design, combined with a lubricant-free mould area, is aimed at applications that require clean production conditions. The absence of lubrication in the mould space reduces the risk of contamination on parts and tools, which can be an advantage for technical, electrical or other sensitive components produced in smaller and medium-sized series. Together with the compact machine dimensions, these characteristics support the integration of the machine into automated cells and clean or semi-clean production environments.

During Swiss Plastics Expo in Lucerne, Boy will demonstrate the Boy 35 Electric in a practical application by producing innovative, reusable cable ties. This application has been selected to illustrate how functionality and reusability can be combined with efficient plastics processing. The live production is intended to show the interplay between precise injection, fast cycle times and the handling of a component that is relevant for cable management and fastening tasks in various industries, while underlining the company’s focus on resource efficiency.

Boy XS E for micro injection moulding

In addition to the Boy 35 Electric, Boy Schweiz will present the very compact Boy XS E. This model has been specially developed for micro injection moulding applications, where shot weights and tolerances play a decisive role. By displaying both machines on the stand, the company intends to demonstrate a range that covers both highly compact micro applications and small electric machines for broader technical use. The combination reflects a strategy to address Swiss processors that often work with high-precision, small and medium-size parts for specialised sectors.

New subsidiary Boy Schweiz and focus on Swiss market

Boy Schweiz GmbH has been founded as the new Swiss representative of the Boy brand. The company places emphasis on a lean and modern organisation that aims to work in close proximity with customers, while maintaining high technical quality and innovative capabilities. Roman Gnos, founder and managing director, previously handled technical support for Boy machines in Switzerland at Thomatech for almost ten years. With the establishment of Boy Switzerland, this experience is intended to be continued and further developed within a dedicated structure.

Commenting on the trade fair appearance, Roman Gnos underlined the positioning of the exhibits: "With these two exhibits, we are showing what Boy stands for today: modern technology, compact design and maximum precision – ideal for Swiss production companies. I am very pleased to be able to present these technologies to you in person at our booth." This statement summarises the company’s emphasis on technology, precision and adaptation to the requirements of the local market, where high added value and demanding quality expectations are characteristic in many user industries.
