New packaging film with world's highest level of water vapour barrier properties

New packaging film with world's… Japan's Mitsubishi Plastics, Inc. (MPI) recently launched its new super high gas barrier sheet based packaging film, X-Barrier in European market.

As per the company release, X-Barrier achieves the world's highest level of water vapour barrier properties, with a water vapour transmission rate of 10-4 g/m2/day. In addition to the superior water vapour barrier properties, X-Barrier also has gas barrier properties for oxygen and carbon dioxide.

The company claims that X-Barrier's custom made functions provide the ability to tailor heat resistance, high humidity resistance, climate durability and bending durability.

The company expects the newly launched film to play a key role in the development of next-generation flat panel displays and solar batteries. With a sales goal of over EUR 40 mln over the next three years, MPI will target high-level packaging materials for medical devices, pharmaceutical products, easily oxidisable and rustable materials and vacuum heat-insulating building materials, as well as pursuing further advances in gas barrier qualities through improved technologies.

In addition, MPI's newly developed flexible products are perfect for use in the information electronics field and the implementation of a productive roll-to-roll results in dramatically reduced costs.
