Arburg at Interplastica 2014

Arburg at Interplastica 2014 The Interplastica trade fair, which is particularly significant for the entire Eastern European region, will be held in Moscow from 28 to 31 January 2014. The packaging industry is an important sector here, for which Arburg has produced an efficient production solution based around a hybrid Allrounder from the high-performance Hidrive series. At exhibition stand B17 in Hall 3, a "Packaging" version of the Allrounder 570 H will produce two rectangular one-litre containers in a cycle time of only 2.9 seconds.

In the packaging industry, fast, high-quality volume production using reliable and efficient technology is required. The high-performance hybrid Hidrive machine series meets these requirements with its packaging versions. The Allrounder Hidrive models with the "P" designation have been consistently enhanced in order to produce complete, high-performance solutions and optimised in virtually all areas. This includes the adaptation of distance between tie bars, clamping force and opening stroke to suit the performance characteristics required by the packaging industry.

The advantages of the Allrounder Hidrive packaging version include fast, precise and energy-saving mould movements thanks to servo-electric toggle-type clamping units, high plasticising capacity through the use of barrier screws and servo-electric dosage drives, as well as dynamically position-regulated screws, effective injection flow and energy-efficient operation thanks to the hybrid drive concept.

High-speed packaging machine

The exhibit will be a packaging version of the Allrounder 570 H and will feature a clamping force of 1,800 kN and a size 800 injection unit. The Allrounder will use a high-speed packaging application to demonstrate its high performance capabilities. A two-cavity mould from Hofstetter will be used to produce rectangular containers with a capacity of 1 litre, as used in food packaging for example. The cycle time is around 2.9 seconds and the part weight is 23 grams per container.

The removal robot and gripper from Asian manufacturer Star Automation are designed with these fast cycles in mind. The configuration is connected to the Selogica control system via the Euromap interface. The shortest intervention times and precision handling of parts are required here so that the injection moulding machine and removal technology form a perfectly functioning unit.

Demonstration of the Arburg host computer system (ALS)

In addition to seeing the Allrounder exhibit, visitors to Interplastica will also have the opportunity to find out about the Arburg host computer system and how they can use this modular product optimisation tool to plan and control centralised production. The use of such management systems is gaining increasing importance in reducing downtimes during production through optimised capacity and maintenance planning, while at the same time maintaining a consistently high quality standard.
