Wittmann to present full Primus range at Fakuma 2026

Wittmann to present full...

Wittmann Group will present the complete range of its Primus products for the first time at Fakuma 2026, taking place from 12 to 16 October in Friedrichshafen. Under the motto "Smart Choices, Smart Savings", the company will show products designed for standard injection molding applications where defined process requirements make highly customized solutions unnecessary. The Primus concept focuses on essential functions intended to support material, energy and cost efficiency without compromising performance, quality or spare parts availability. According to Wittmann, the approach is based on adapting production technology to the specific requirements of the application, as much as necessary and as little as possible. Across the company’s product portfolio, models carrying the Primus name are positioned for cost-efficient and reliable operation in standard applications. Wittmann also points to short delivery times, fast start-up and easy operation as important features, particularly in view of the limited availability of skilled specialist staff on every shift.

At the Wittmann booth, a dedicated presentation area will be used for Primus auxiliary equipment, covering functions from raw materials handling to in-line recycling. Representative exhibits will include the Drymax primus granulate dryer, the Tempro primus temperature controller and the S-Max primus screenless granulator. Further products to be shown live at the trade fair booth include a Card primus dryer for drying small quantities, a Feedmax primus central material loader, a Primus robot and the EcoPrimus injection molding machine. The products will be presented both as stand-alone exhibits and as elements integrated in a production cell with other Primus equipment.

Premiere for Tempro primus 90

The new Tempro primus 90 temperature controller will have its world premiere at Fakuma 2026. The previous seven-segment display has been replaced by a 3.5-inch TFT LCD colour display, intended to improve intuitive menu navigation. The temperature controller from the Primus range is designed for applications requiring precise temperature regulation without additional functions. Wittmann describes its operating principle with the phrase: "Place it, connect it, finished". After setup, the Tempro primus 90 is designed to start working reliably immediately.

PT1000 temperature sensors are used to ensure high regulation accuracy. Generously dimensioned pipe diameters inside the cooling coils are intended to increase cooling capacity.

Resource-saving in-line recycling

The latest Primus products also include the S-Max primus screenless granulator, designed for use directly beside the injection molding machine. With a low motor speed of 27 rev/min at 50 Hz, the beside-the-press granulator can process all engineering plastics, including styrenes and acrylates, as well as glass fibre-reinforced materials.

The low motor speed also reduces noise emissions, energy consumption and dust generation. According to Wittmann, the result is a highly homogeneous grain size, which supports high part quality when processing regrind. The development of the unit also took into account the long service life of the grinding tools. Overall, the S-Max primus is described as having low maintenance requirements, easy cleaning and fast material changeovers, supporting resource-saving in-line recycling.

Primus robots with up to 8 kg load capacity

The Primus linear robots are intended for cost-efficient pick-and-place applications and simple automation tasks. The latest model, the Primus 118, extends the application range of the series and is designed for handling loads of up to 8 kg. The higher load capacity is based on a new design with reinforced demolding and vertical axes, as well as more powerful drives.

The robot offers up to ten valve slots, providing a range of combination options for gripper and vacuum circuits. Up to eight vacuum circuits are possible. To reduce parts removal time and consequently the overall cycle time, the robot is equipped with the Smart Removal function as standard.

The new Primus 118 can be installed flexibly on various injection molding machine models and sizes up to 250 tons in clamping force. Since the drilling pattern inside the robot’s main frame has not been changed compared with earlier series, the new Primus 118 can be retrofitted to existing equipment. With the R9 control system, including the R9 Teachbox, it provides scale-up flexibility. Additional rotation and tilt axes are available for a wide range of applications. Various depositing patterns can be implemented with one B servo axis. An A+C servo axis is used where pivoting motions are required in addition to rotation, to deposit complex part geometries in the correct position.

All-electric precision for high production volumes

EcoPrimus is Wittmann’s all-electric injection molding machine combining performance, precision and reliability with cost efficiency in standard applications. At Fakuma, the machine will produce protective caps for insulin pens in an 8-cavity mold at the Wittmann booth in hall B1. For this application, it will be equipped with a Primus robot.

The machine, with 1000 kN clamping force, has been developed for compact single-component injection molding in high volumes. It reaches injection speeds of 200 mm/s and operates with Wittmann’s latest-generation B8X control system for full 4.0 compatibility. Direct servo drives and the use of deceleration energy reduce energy consumption to a minimum.

Wittmann will exhibit at Fakuma 2026 in hall B1, booth 1204.
