PolyOne created Geon FIT

PolyOne created Geon FIT PolyOne Corporation, a premier global provider of specialized polymer materials, services and solutions, unveiled Geon FIT (Formulation Improvement Tool) resins, a breakthrough development in formulating vinyl plastisols.

This new platform helps to eliminate common formulation and processing issues, improving plastisol performance and enabling higher filler loadings without performance tradeoffs.

“PolyOne is an eminent provider of specialty vinyl resins, and the Geon brand is globally recognized as synonymous with product performance, quality and consistency,” said Cynthia Tomasch, general manager, Specialty Coatings and Resins at PolyOne. “This new technology demonstrates our commitment to the plastisol business and to helping our customers differentiate their products, win new business, and reduce operating costs.”

Innovative Geon FIT blending resins improve rheological characteristics and enhance air release of plastisols for better processing performance. Further, these new resins control viscosity aging and surface characteristics without the mechanical property loss typically associated with conventional offerings. Geon FIT resins improve mechanical properties by 10 to 30 percent compared to formulations containing traditional blending resins. In addition, using Geon FIT allows plastisol formulation chemists to increase filler content (up to 40 phr) without sacrificing physical property performance, allowing significant reductions in compounding costs.

Three new Geon FIT resins are available globally for plastisol applications of 4 mil (100 microns) or greater in low, medium, and high molecular weight versions.
