North African plastics industry on the upswing

North African plastics industry… Steady growth rates and massive investments into the North African plastics industry – against this backdrop plast expo 2011 is organised by the Moroccan Plastics Association AMP, Forum 7 and their German partner fairtrade from Heidelberg. The 4th International Plastics, Rubber, Composites, Packaging and Conditioning Trade Fair for Morocco and North Africa is scheduled to be held at the Casablanca International Fairgrounds from 6 to 9 April 2011.

With double-digit growth rates, production and turnover of the African plastics industry are on a steady upswing, reported AMP. The 35,000 customers of the Moroccan plastics industry were able to achieve a turnover of Euro 740 million. According to the plastics association, the target is to triple it between 2010 and 2020 to then Euro 2.3 billion.

Increasing numbers are also predicted for exhibitors and high-profile trade visitors. Compared to plast expo 2009 N. Saouaf, Managing Director from AMP, expects an increase of 25% in high-profile trade visitors and in exhibitors which is amongst others due to the continuation of the so called “hosted-buyers’ program”. This program, hosted by AMP and the Moroccan state agency for export promotion, Maroc Export, enables high-profile trade visitors from Algeria, Egypt, Gabon, the Ivory Coast, Jordan, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal and Tunisia to discuss business with plast expo 2011 exhibitors by financially supporting their visit of the fair.

In addition to many international market leaders, some group participations will be back, the Austrian pavilion “Expo Austria” for instance, a group participation from Italy as well as the Valencia Association of Plastics Producers, AVEP for Spain, and many others.
