Coperion delivers biggest ever compounding lines for POM

Coperion delivers biggest… Coperion Werner & Pfleiderer GmbH & Co. KG, Stuttgart/Germany, has delivered its two so far biggest compounding lines for polyoxymethylene (POM) to a company in the eastern part of China. Having been put into service in May of this year, the compounding lines are used for the compounding, degassing, stabilizing and pelletizing of the raw POM polymer. Each compounding system is rated for an output of 4,000 kg/hour and comprises the material feed system, a ZSK MEGAcompounder with a 250 mm diameter screw, a continuous screen changer, a WRG 320 water-cooled die face pelletizer for 2 mm pellets, specially optimized for this application, and an intermediate silo for the dry end product. Installed upstream of each MEGAcompounder is a gravimetric feed system with several feeders. During the compounding of the raw POM polymer there is a strong demand for degassing. In addition to the high degassing capacity due to the vacuum domes, the high torque of the ZSK MEGAcompounder has been found to best enhance the product quality.
