Barmag has expanded its portfolio for PA6 and PA6.6 applications with the new type 6020 ceramic oiler, developed for low-titer yarns in the range of 5 to 100 denier. The company presents the unit as a solution for filament production where stable spinfinish application, low spray-off and careful yarn handling are required. The oiler is also available as a retrofit solution. According to the supplied information, its design focuses on process stability in demanding production environments, including improved oil distribution and reduced contamination in the quench and winding areas. The new model combines a filament-friendly inlet area, three-waves geometry and an integrated ceramic shaft, replacing designs in which metal shafts are glued into the ceramic component.

Design for stable processing

A key feature of the type 6020 ceramic oiler is the yarn inlet area. The yarn is saturated with oil before it comes into contact with the ceramic, which is intended to support fluff-free processing. The three-waves geometry reduces yarn contact to a minimum.

The integrated ceramic shaft is another part of the design. In contrast to solutions with glued metal shafts, it is intended to eliminate typical sources of error such as clogged oil lines or ceramic parts falling out. In combination with optimized thread guidance, the geometry of the 6020 ceramic oiler is designed to provide uniform and efficient spinfinish application with minimal spray-off and very high application uniformity, described by low OCV values.

Quality and efficiency parameters

The ceramic oiler was developed for demanding production environments and is intended to maintain high yarn quality through stable process parameters. These include a high spinfinish application rate, referred to as OPU, and good distribution uniformity, referred to as OCV.

The solution is also described as enabling filament-friendly processing without yarn breaks or loop formations. Reduced spray-off, particularly in the sensitive low-titer range, is intended to minimize material losses, reduce oil contamination of the quench and winding areas, and increase process reliability.

The design also addresses operation and setup. A clearly visible and easily accessible thread guide is intended to facilitate threading, while adjustment options allow quick and reliable setup during operation.

Results from initial applications

Initial applications at international customers are reported to have demonstrated the performance of the new oiler. In tests with PA6 and PA6.6 POY yarns, processing was achieved without spray-off and with significantly more uniform yarn tension. The spinfinish application rate increased by approximately 23% compared with standard solutions.

The oiler was also tested in applications with PET POY fulldull and critical flat yarn. In a direct comparison of various suppliers, the 6020 nozzle was reported to be the only solution to deliver stable performance without loops or BF.

With the 6020 spinfinish nozzle, Barmag is adding a solution for low-titer applications in filament production. The integrated ceramic shaft, optimized yarn guidance and stated process parameters are intended to improve yarn quality, process reliability and production efficiency.
