During this year’s edition of ADF (Aerosol & Dispensing Forum), held as part of Paris Packaging Week, the competition jury recognised BeeCap, a project submitted by the Polish company Prescan Packaging from Ogrodzieniec. The recognition concerns an aerosol actuator cap concept designed to reduce the amount of plastic used while maintaining the existing strength parameters. The project refers to solutions observed in nature, in particular the geometry of a honeycomb, which is intended to enable mass reduction without loss of functionality in the application. The choice of raw material was also indicated, including the use of post-consumer recycled (PCR) material, as an element contributing to a reduced carbon footprint.
The certificate for “concept of the year” was received by Michał Kubik, Business Development Director and the creator of the project, and Kacper Kędzierski, owner of Prescan Packaging. The presentation of the awarded solutions took place during the ceremonial part of the event.
According to information provided by the company, the jury appreciated the innovative approach to the design of the aerosol actuator cap, consisting of minimising the amount of plastic used while maintaining the previous strength. The use of a honeycomb-inspired structure is intended to deliver these assumptions.
The project description also highlights the use of PCR material. The use of post-consumer recycled feedstock is intended to contribute to reducing the carbon footprint. At the same time, Prescan Packaging reports ongoing implementation work aimed at using materials based on biodegradable polymers in the injection moulding process for the BeeCap cap.
