IdentiPlast 2012

IdentiPlast 2012 "Zero plastics to landfill by 2020 – how to reach the goal”: This is the theme of the 10th edition of IdentiPlast, Europe’s leading event on plastics waste management.

This year’s conference will take place in Warsaw/Poland on 6 and 7 November. Along with representatives of plastics production, recycling and recovery industries from Europe and abroad, high-profile guest speakers will include: Helmut Maurer, DG Environment, European Commission (EU); Ryszard Wójcik, Polish Recovery Organisation – PSR (PL); Alexander Janz, Ministry of Environment (DE); Carl Van Camp, Senior Vice-President and Head of Polymers Division, Total (BE); Keith Riley, Veolia (UK); Kirsten Henson, Director, KLH Sustainability (UK).

The two-day event consists of an exhibition, discussion panels and key note speeches on identification, sorting, collection, recycling and energy recovery technologies for plastic waste. The programme on Day 1 will cover European waste legislation, especially the different implementations of the Waste Frame Directive in Europe, as well as sustainability aspects of waste management, for example by looking at the London 2012 sustainability legacy. On Day 2 the discussion will focus on how technology and science support a zero plastics to landfill goal.

IdentiPlast 2012 is part of a vast waste management programme put in place by PlasticsEurope to stop plastics from being wasted in landfills. Organized jointly by the international plastics value chain since 1997, IdentiPlast was born from the idea that plastic is too valuable to be thrown away and has positioned itself as a centre of excellence to showcase and share "Best-Practices” in the end-of-life management of plastics between all relevant stakeholders. This key forum provides the perfect opportunity to delegates to share their experience and know-how, to understand current and future recycling and recovery strategies related to plastics and to identify and discuss progress made in these cutting-edge technologies.
