Gerresheimer invests in Czech Republic

Gerresheimer invests in Czech… Pharmaceutical and medical products manufacturer Gerresheimer group is preparing to expand production of moulded plastics components at its Horsovsky Tyn plant in the Czech Republic.

The group, based in Düsseldorf, Germany, plans to construct a new injection moulding hall to turn out polypropylene parts for inhalers and other medical devices and equipment. The project will also include a new product assembly and completion line, reports Czechinvest, the country’s investment and business agency.

Construction of the 5,214 m2 production hall is due to begin this December and is due for completion by November 2011. The expansion scheme at Horsovsky Tyn will also include provision for 61 new car parking spaces.

Once the expansion is finished, Gerresheimer is set to extend its workforce at the Czech plant by 140 to run a four-shift operation.

In August this year, the project was the subject of an environmental impact and assessment study by the Plzen regional authority.

Established in 2001, Gerresheimer’s Czech plant currently has a 5,400m2 production area which includes two clean room facilities of 2,000m2 and 2,900m2. The unit operates 47 injection machines with a clamping force range of 25-225 tonnes.
The plant’s product range includes insulin pens lancing devices, dialysis machine components, rapid test devices and products for artificial respiration.

Horsovsky Tyn is located strategically, within 100km of Gerresheimer’s German plant at Pfreimd and its technical competence centre in Wackersdorf, also in Germany.
