COLOUR VISION® Edition No. 13

COLOUR VISION® Edition No.… COLOUR VISION® is a colour concept in keeping with the spirit of the times, which represents innovative colours, effects and surfaces in selected polymers by means of plastic lens-shaped blanks.

Experienced trend scouts and colourists actively work on the colour trends of tomorrow and together realise a new COLOUR VISION® series each year.

The new Edition No. 13 from the COLOUR VISION® series is dedicated once again to three special trend themes:
“The new optimism”,
“The new modesty” and
“The new transformation”.

The themes are presented in 36 new coloured polypropylene flat blanks. Nearly all selected colours have been refined with special effect pigments and implemented in both opaque and transparent versions. The new Gabriel-Chemie COLOUR VISION® series is presented in form of a flat blank box with the associated folder.

The RAL colour standard for plastics – RAL P1 – has existed since the K 2010. RAL P1 offers the 100 internationally most frequently requested colours from the RAL CLASSIC series. The world of the RAL standards for plastics has now become even more colourful: RAL P2 PLASTICS opens up new creative possibilities for precise colour communication in the field of plastics. The colour standards come from RAL gGmbh; Gabriel-Chemie Ges.m.b.H. was responsible for the technical implementation in polypropylene.

RAL P2 contains 160 opaque colours and, as a speciality, 40 transparent colours. Together with the 100 most popular classic colours from RAL P1, the complete RAL PLASTICS colour spectrum thus offers 300 precise colour charts for plastics. All colours are also available as single flat blanks. The design of the DIN-A6-size plastic colour blanks from the RAL P1 and RAL P2 series has been carefully chosen – they are made of 3 mm thick polypropylene. Alongside the smooth main field, there are two further fields on the standard with different surface textures as well as two graduations of 2 mm and 1mm in thickness. This multi-functionality offers the user a realistic impression of the colour effect with different material thicknesses.

With RAL P1 and RAL P2, the transfer inaccuracies that used to occur when implementing the RAL colours of paint samples in plastic are consigned to the past. Hence plastics manufacturers and processors can now save time, costs and raw materials.

WPCs are composite materials consisting of a plastic matrix and a predominant portion of wood (mostly wood flour) – a renewable raw material. They are processed using modern plastic processing methods such as extrusion and injection moulding. Gabriel-Chemie offers a whole range of both additive and colour masterbatches for this increasingly important market segment for WPC-based plastic components (floorboards, panels, profiles, injection-moulded parts etc.), whether they are based on polyolefins (PP or PE), PVC or bio-based polylactic acid (PLA).

Of particular note here is a newly-developed lubricant masterbatch for extrusion processing of PP-based WPCs:MAXITHEN® PP791300/12GL.
This new product enables processing stresses to be reduced despite higher production speeds, in addition to which a smoother product surface can be achieved.
