Bluestar Silicones Launches New Foam Control Additives for Industrial and Food Applications

Bluestar Silicones Launches… Bluestar Silicones has introduced a new line of SILCOLAPSE brand foam control additives that provides broad utility at various temperatures and pH levels for a wide range of food and industrial applications. These foam control additives are available locally, and will be manufactured in S.C.

“We’re excited about this introduction because these new high-quality products are domestically produced and meet important performance requirements for our North American customer base,” said Roman Radekevich, Market Manager for Specialty Fluids for Bluestar Silicones North America.

Bluestar Silicones’ SILCOLAPSE brand foam control products are available in a range of dilutions to meet customer-specific anti-foaming needs. These water soluble additives effectively control foam at concentrations as low as 10 ppm solids, even at elevated temperatures and under pressure. These products also are effective at wide-ranging pH levels and are particularly effective in alkaline conditions.

SILCOLAPSE 623 and 621 are designed for industrial applications, such as oil and petroleum, textiles, pesticides, pulp and paper, plastics recycling, synthetic rubber processing, wastewater treatment, and sea water distillation.

SILCOLAPSE 723, SILCOLAPSE 722, and SILCOLAPSE 721 are compliant with 21 CFR 173.340 Defoaming Agents and other Indirect Food Additives sections of 21 CFR. Typical examples include rendering-edible oil manufacturing, synthesis of food additives, fermentation, and processing of seafood, potatoes, and freeze-dried products.

In June 2012, Bluestar Silicones opened a new 226,000-sq-ft manufacturing facility in York, S.C. This facility is home to all manufacturing and R&D in North America for Bluestar Silicones.

The company produces its extensive range of silicone technologies at the new facility, including liquid silicone rubbers (LSRs), high consistency rubbers (HCRs), room-temperature vulcanized silicones (RTVs), fluids, dispersions, release coatings, specialty fluids, resins and antifoam, marketed under its Silbione, Silcolease, Silcolapse, Lyndcoat, and Bluesil trade names.
