With this HSM solution, the space needed to store returned empty containers is reduced to around 25 to 30% of their original volume, thus reducing the time needed to dispose of them. A special system of rollers perforates and crushes the bottles. The side walls of the crushed packages are hooked together so that the resulting volume reduction is fully retained. An additional advantage of the crusher is the irreversible destruction of PET bottles and returnable cans.
