Durable, wet strength label papers of M-real

Durable, wet strength label… M-real Consumer Packaging has launched two durable, wet strength label papers which have been designed to withstand the damp conditions of chiller cabinets and refrigerators.

Simcastor Label WS is a super-calendered label and Simcastor Label WSE is a linen-embossed label, and both are aimed at customers in the beer and soft drinks market.

Both labels are available as sheets and reels and have been developed to be attached to either glass or PET bottles that are stored in shop refrigerators, in retail environments and in the home. The WS and WSE are available in three weights - 70, 75 and 80 g/m2 - and are alkaline resistant. Both labels are suitable for printing using sheet-fed offset, gravure and flexo presses and as a vacuum base for metallising.

The labels' flat-lay characteristics make them ideal for die-cutting, their reverse-side treatment enables easy gluing and curl control on fast bottling lines and the labels can be easily removed in an alkaline washing process, making them suitable for bottle recycling.

Eija Weckstrom-Rita, M-real Consumer Packaging's sales director, said:- Following a successful launch in Russia and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), we are now looking to expand the sales of Simcastor WS and WSE into new markets. They are the right products at the right time, being made from a sustainable material - paper - yet making no compromise on quality or performance. And with more environmentally-aware consumers returning bottles, or sending them to be recycled, labels that remove easily make the process more efficient.

Simcastor labels are manufactured at M-real's Simpele mill in Finland and meet environmental and quality standards including PEFC, ISO 9001, ISO14001 and ISO 22000.
