Printpack wins three flexible packaging awards
The US Flexible Packaging Association has announced that Printpack has received three 2012 FPA awards; one Gold Award for Printing Excellence and two Silver Awards for Packaging Excellence.

The Ganador QuadSeal Sack 10 kg received a Gold Award for Printing Excellence. This has been completely redesigned to incorporate many new features, including a matte finish, flexo printing over a rich black background to provide a very attractive premium appearance, and improved shape using Printpack’s QuadSeal technology. The special side gusset seal configuration provides the package with an improved form when filled and makes it easier for the retailer to stack it for storage, transportation, and display at the point of sale without the need for any rigid support.

The new BENGAY Zero Degrees stand-up pouch received a Silver Award for Packaging Excellence. The product is packaged in a fully flexible laminated stand-up pouch which replaces a paperboard folding carton. The newly-designed stand-up pouch lets users place the package in the freezer for optimal product storage. The package format change, along with flexographic printing on polyester, gives the product a greatly improved shelf appeal over that of the original package format. The pouch can be displayed either standing up or hanging, giving the retailer a number of options for getting it noticed.

The Beneful Discovery Pack secured the second Silver Award for Packaging Excellence. The Discovery Pack is a new packaging format used by Nestle Purina. It is a a handled bag filled with individually-packaged containers of the Beneful Hearty Roasters line of gourmet dog food and a 3.5 lb bag of Beneful Healthy Fiesta. The Discovery Pack bag is resealable and reuseable . Using Printpack’s Showpack® true flat-bottom bag technology, the customer can have registered print and graphics on five panels, rather than just on the front and back as on a typical stand-up pouch. Side gussets can either be printed with additional product information, or left clear, allowing the product to speak for itself. Whichever configuration is chosen, the product is noticeable from every point of view, whether the bag is placed upright or is lying flat.
