Engel training and KIMW expand e-learning programme

Engel training and KIMW expand…

Engel is expanding its cooperation with the KIMW institute (Kunststoff-Institut Lüdenscheid) in the training area. Alongside classroom training, the two partners are developing joint new e-learning options.

Possessing a firm understanding of injection moulding machines, robots and the interaction of individual process steps means getting more out of injection moulding production - more productivity, more stable processes and enhanced product quality. With this in mind, Engel training is supporting customers with a comprehensive programme of further education and training options which will include seminars, workshops and certified training courses. For Engel, collaboration with partners in this area is critical. "Through cooperation agreements, we are expanding our training range for customers and allowing participants to see the bigger picture and learn about other relevant areas of plastics processing," emphasises Kathrin Neunteufel-Steyer, head of Engel training.

Based in the German town of Lüdenscheid, the KIMW plastics institute for midmarket companies is one of Engel’s longest-standing partners. The main reason for intensifying cooperation is the fact that the KIMW - like Engel - is a pioneer in e-learning for the plastics industry. "We are working together to develop new online training courses," says Neunteufel-Steyer. As a first step, several of Engel’s existing e-learning courses based on the operation of injection moulding machines and robots were incorporated into the Plastics School (www.kunststoff-schule.de), a platform-based training offer from the KIMW that is independent of location.

Uniformly high standards, world-wide

Long before the pandemic made it necessary, Engel set up its own e-learning platform - not to replace its established classroom formats, as Kathrin Neunteufel-Steyer points out, but to supplement them. "The platform enables us to tailor our training options more precisely to the specific needs and requirements of customers."

Classroom events are held either in one of the 22 certified training centres of the Engel Group, or on customer premises. Hybrid seminars are also offered where, for example, not all participants are able to travel to a training venue.

Engel also uses its e-learning platform for the ongoing training of its own workforce. To this end, all trainers around the world need to possess a uniformly high level of knowledge while benefiting from the experience of their colleagues in the Engel Group. This guarantees high quality training and successful learning outcomes for Engel customers around the globe.
