ProPak Asia is one of the biggest packaging trade fairs in Asia.

Total 33,376 international visitors with 3,909 international attendees from 61 countries showed up at the 19th edition of ProPak Asia in which thousands of inquiries were generated and a record number of trade deals were signed.

The four-day event, from 15 to 18 June at BITEC, featured more than 1,272 participants from 40 countries covering a space of over 26,288 sqm. It also closed with high praise from buyers and trade representatives, up more than 3,000 over the previous show, and arriving from throughout Asia including Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, China, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, The Philippines, Korea, Taiwan, Myanmar, Bangladesh, and to name a few.

“The record number at this year’s event was not marked only by international visitors, buyers and trade representatives, but also by local enthusiasts who are seeking innovative processing and packaging technologies,” said David Aitken, Managing Director of Bangkok Exhibition Services (BES), the organiser of ProPak Asia 2011. “The event offers everything they need for improved capacity and efficiency, locally and overseas.”

He said, “This year’s tremendous event has successfully attracted more visitors from emerging markets outside ASEAN. Five out of the top ten visiting countries to the show were not ASEAN member countries. It’s truly impressive and highlights the shows geographic expense.”

“The growth in local visitors can be attributed to the fact that local manufacturers have increasingly attached importance to technology development and efficiency. As a result of this, they are always looking to get themselves updated on new processing and packaging technology and trends. On top of that, the education programmes really added value to the show. We saw over 3,500 delegates attend the conference, seminar, training and education sessions. This has generated greater awareness of technology improvement and growth for the processing and packaging sectors among private and government organisations.”

Riding on the theme, Go Clean Go Green, visitors to ProPak Asia 2011 were impressed by the comprehensive range of products on display from renowned international brands that are committed to helping businesses in Asia improve their cost control, energy efficiency and environment management without affecting production performance and profitability.

“Continuing with the theme is in compliance with the global interest in effective environment management, which will be more intensified in the future. The next show will be more impressive and comprehensive with a space of6,000 sqm and an expected 20% increase in the number of exhibitors and visitors. More participants from Auatralia, Russia, China and the Middle East are also expected in the next edition. In addition, we project to see more seminar and conference sessions being value-added to participants.”
