New Exceed mPE from ExxonMobil
ExxonMobil Chemical is introducing new Exceed metallocene polyethylene (mPE) resin grades at the Arabplast plastics, petrochemicals and rubber industry trade show in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, January 10-13, 2015.

New Exceed 7518 mPE resin is designed for high-performance cast stretch films. It offers performance benefits such as film cling retention at high stretch ratio, as well as processing advantages, including high output and web stability.

Exceed 3812 metallocene very low density polyethylene (mVLDPE) resin can be used in highly demanding stretch film applications. Films made with Exceed 3812 mVLDPE resin exhibit excellent stretch performance and puncture resistance at high stretch ratio. The dart drop impact resistance and tensile strength of the stretch films support high-speed wrapping and tension for improved load stability, compared to conventional LLDPE films. Good optical properties, including high clarity and low surface haze, enhance packaging appearance.

"Compared to conventional LLDPE films, Exceed 3812 mVLDPE films can reduce the weight of film to wrap pallets, while providing equivalent load stability. This makes unit cost savings possible," said Francois Chambon, polytheylene market development manager for the Middle East at ExxonMobil Chemical.

Exceed 1012 mVLDPE resin provides excellent sealing performance for demanding applications requiring fast line speeds, enhanced hermeticity, high seal resistance to bag drop, and high hot-tack. This makes it an excellent choice for a wide range of packaging including vertical form fill and seal (VFFS) pillow packs, stand up pouches (SUP), sachets, horizontal form fill and seal (HFFS) flow packs, and shrink/vacuum bags.

Films made with Exceed 1012 mVLDPE resin exhibit high dart drop and puncture resistance. These strong films deliver high package integrity and downgauging opportunities for low material use. The film's optical properties, including high clarity and low haze, allow excellent product display.

"Exceed 1012 mVLDPE, which is new to the Middle East region, is an attractive alternative to plastomer blends providing advantages across the value chain. It allows converters and end-users to benefit from outstanding sealing performance which provides significant value to packaging markets as diverse as meat, cheese, liquid and dry food," said Etienne Lernoux, senior technologist, ExxonMobil Chemical.
