Activity description

Washington Penn Plastic is a leading provider of compounded polypropylene and polyethylene products, tailored to our customers' application requirements, rather than selling from a list of stock products. WPP has demonstrated numerous successes replacing high-cost engineering resins with lower cost materials by expanding the properties & capabilities of polyolefin compounds. Our resulting product categories are:
Polypropylene, Polyethylene, TPOs and Soft Touch TPE materials, Color Concentrate, Custom Compounding, Mineral Filled (talc, calcium carbonate, mica, etc.), Polyolefin, Glass Fiber reinforced materials, Polyolefin, Resin Distributor, Testing Services, Color Matching, Flame Retardant Materials. Our customers are in the following markets, among others: Automotive, Construction, Consumer Housewares and Disposables, Industrial, Institutional and Electronic, Lawn & Garden – Recreational Vehicles, Medical & Personal Care, Packaging, Pump, Pool, Spa and Irrigation.

Washington Penn Plastic Company recognizes the growing desire to offer a more sustainable or green material that reduces the percentage of petroleum based materials to the market. We have developed a wide ranging exposure to the many bio-based fillers used in polyolefin substrates. There are a number of challenges in identifying a bio-based filler system that provides the best balance of retained properties, heat sensitivity and cost in pursuit of realizing the goal of a more sustainable material. Our technical staff is ready to engage customers to develop the right material that meets both the application requirements and the goal of a greener material.

Washington Penn has considerable experience formulating with and incorporating less common fillers. These include, but are not limited to wollastonite, bio-fillers, coal fly ash, various ground recyclate streams, and others. The addition of these may be for properties, but in many cases, they allow customers to achieve a specified percentage of post-consumer or post-industrial recycled content.
