To clarify: welding of plastics consists in a durable combination of thermoplastic materials using heat and pressure, with or without the addition of additional material. All processes are executed when the surfaces are combined in a plastic state. Only the same type of plastic can be welded together, such as PP with PP. Only the same variety of materials with the same or similar molecular weight, the same density and melt flow ratio gives a good mechanical joint. As an example we give here polypropylene copolymer and homopolymer, but both with similar MFI melt flow rates, ie, for example, both in the variety to extraude, rather than one for extrusion and the other intended for injection. Thus, for example, it is difficult to perform weld between the extruded - embossed plate and produced by injection molding ribbed coffer.
To clarify: the mass flow rate (MFI) is the number that expresses the mass of molten material flowing through the nozzle of fixed shape and size within a given time under a given pressure at a given temperature. The value of this ratio depends on the molecular weight, its degree of polimolecularity, degree of branching of macromolecules, depends also on the additional ingredients. For tests we use load plastometer.
The color of the material in the welding process does not really matter.
